Fair Use Policy
TellSG — operator of tell.sg.
Last updated: 29 July 2026. Draft pending legal review.
tell.sg exists so people can say true, difficult things to organisations that intend to listen. Both halves matter. This policy is short because the principle is short: use the platform for that, or not at all.
For organisations
A box must be a genuine channel of the organisation that rents it, intended to be read and answered. Do not:
- Rent a box for an organisation you are not authorised to represent, or present a box as belonging to someone else.
- Use a box to harvest information under false pretences — a "feedback box" that exists to identify critics is the abuse we are designed against, and we close such boxes when we find them.
- Attempt to identify senders, whether technically, by process of elimination exercises among staff, or by pressuring people to "own up". We cannot stop what happens inside your organisation, but using our platform for it is grounds for closure.
- Resell or white-label access except under a written agreement with us.
For senders
- Do not use a box to threaten violence, harass an individual, or pursue a personal vendetta through repeated bad-faith reports.
- Do not submit content that is unlawful to possess or share — and note that every attachment is scanned and sanitised before delivery.
- Do not knowingly submit false reports. Anonymity protects honest speakers; it is not a licence to fabricate. Organisations can and do ask follow-up questions, and fabrications rarely survive them.
- Do not attempt to breach, probe, or overload the platform. Rate limits, duplicate detection, and quarantine exist and are enforced.
Reporting abuse
To report a box or content you believe breaches this policy: abuse@tell.sg. We review reports against this policy, act where it is breached, and do not reveal the reporter to the box owner.
What enforcement looks like
Proportionate and boring: warnings where a warning fixes it, quarantine for suspected automated abuse, closure for boxes that exist to deceive, and referral to authorities where the law requires it. We publish no shame lists and run no tribunals; we just apply this page.
